The Elite Four is the biggest challenge that Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl’s Story has to offer, pitting you back-to-back against 5 of Sinnoh’s toughest trainers, including the reigning Champion; Cynthia.

Using the information in this Elite Four Guide, however, you can enter the battle with inside knowledge about each Pokémon’s power, attacks, and weaknesses, giving you the upper hand against these powerful teams.

Elite Four Aaron

Aaron specialises in Bug-type Pokémon. However, like all members of the Elite Four, he uses type matchups and moves that can make Aaron’s team effective against Pokémon of all kinds.

Below you will find information about each of the Pokémon in Aaron’s team, including their attacks, abilities, and held items.

He will begin the battle with Dustox.

Aaron’s Dustox

Aaron’s Dustox is Level 53 and has the Shield Dust ability which prevents additional effects such as Poison or Burn.

As a Bug/Poison-type Pokémon its weaknesses are Fire, Flying, Psychic and Rock-type attacks.

It is resistant against Grass, Poison, Bug, and Fairy-type attacks.

It holds the Black Sludge item, which will heal it for 1/16th of its Max HP each turn.

Elite Four Bertha

Bertha’s Quagsire

Bertha’s Quagsire is Level 55 and has the Water Absorb ability which allows it to recover health instead of taking damage when it is hit by Water-type attacks.

As a Water/Ground-type Pokémon its only weakness is Grass-type attacks.

It is resistant against Fire, Water, Electric, Poison, Rock, and Steel-type attacks.

It holds the Leftovers item, which will heal it for 1/16th of its Max HP each turn.

Elite Four Flint

Flint’s Rapidash

Flint’s Rapidash is Level 60 and has the Flame Body ability which can sometimes inflict burn on your Pokémon if they hit it with a physical attack.

As a Fire-type Pokémon, its weaknesses are Water, Ground, and Rock-type attacks.

It is resistant against Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel, and Fairy-type attacks.

It holds a Wide Lens, which increases the accuracy of all its attacks by 10%.

As a Steel and Ground-type Pokémon, its weaknesses are Fire, Water, Fighting, and Ground-type attacks.

It is resistant against Normal, Electric, Poison, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Dragon, Steel, and Fairy-type attacks.

It holds a Life Orb, which increases the power of all attacks by 30% and in turn deals 10% damage to the holder each turn. However, Steelix’s Sheer Force ability negates the negative effects of this item.

It holds the Focus Sash, which has the same effect as the “Sturdy” ability, but only works once per match. With it, Infernape can resist an attack that would otherwise faint it from full HP, leaving it with 1HP.

Elite Four Lucian

Lucian’s Mr. Mime

Lucian’s Mr. Mime is Level 59 and has the Filter ability which reduces the amount of damage it takes from super-effective moves.

As a Psychic/Fairy-type Pokémon, its weaknesses are Poison, Ghost, and Steel-type attacks.

It is resistant against Fighting, Psychic, and Dragon-type attacks.

It holds Light Clay, which increases the length of time that Reflect or Light Screen moves stay active from 5 to 8 turns.

It holds a Life Orb, which increases the power of all attacks by 30% and in turn deals 10% damage to the holder each turn. However, Alakazam’s Magic Guard ability negates the negative effects of this item.

Champion Cynthia

Cynthia’s Milotic

Cynthia’s Milotic is Level 63 and has the Marvel Scale ability which boosts its defense stat when it is afflicted with a status ailment such as a burn.

As a Water-type Pokémon, its weaknesses are Electric and Grass-type attacks.

It is resistant against Fire, Water, Ice, and Steel-type attacks.

It holds a Flame Orb, which will afflict it with Burn at the end of the first turn, thus boosting its defense stat thanks to its Marvel Scale ability.

Cynthia’s Garchomp

Cynthia’s Garchomp is Level 66 and has the Rough Skin ability which will inflict damage upon any Pokémon that hits it with a physical attack.

As a Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon, its weaknesses are Ice, Fairy, and Dragon-type attacks.

It is resistant against Fire, Electric, Poison, and Rock-type attacks.

It holds a Yache Berry, which will heavily reduce the damage it takes from a super-effective Ice-type attack.

Cynthia will always save her Garchomp for last, so this immense Pokémon will be the final hurdle between you and Pokémon League Champion status.

It will always use Sword Dance as its first attack, which will make all of its attacks devastating enough to one-hit KO any Pokémon not particularly resistant or excessively over-leveled.

I recommend that you purchase the Ice Beam TM from Veilstone’s Department Store and teach it to one or two of your Pokémon as Ice-type attacks deal 4X damage to Garchomp, once you’ve forced it to use it’s Yache Berry.

With some skill, a dash of luck, and maybe a few attempts you should finally be able to put yourself in the Sinnoh Region’s Pokémon League Hall of Fame!
