Welcome to our Pokemon Legends: Arceus Story Walkthrough. If you’re just starting your adventure, make sure you jump back to our Getting Started Guide, which will walk you through the main story beats of the game’s introductory missions.

This section of the guide picks up after the completion of the missions “The Trial of Lake Acuity,” “The Trial of Lake Verity,” and “The Trial of Lake Valor.”

Mount Coronet

Atop Mount Coronet

You will return to Jubilife Village automatically after receiving the Red Chain, where you’ll meet with the Professor, Akari/Rei, and Cyllene again.

You let them know about the Red Chain and try to share the information with Kamado in an effort to stop his foolish plans, but he has already left and taken the Security Corps with him!

Cyllene welcomes you back onto the Survey Corps and your first orders are to climb Mt. Coronet and use the Red Chain to prevent any further calamity.

Meet Irida/Adaman at the Village Gate where Cyllene will explain the situation to them.

They will rush on ahead to meet you at Mount Coronet.

You will automatically be transported to the Summit Camp; a new camp set up next to the Moonview Arena in Coronet Highlands. From there, make your way northeast to the waypoint.

There, you will find a cave entrance with a rather incompetent Security Corps member standing guard. He will let you walk right in.

Head inside and then continue uphill toward the exit ahead of you.

Halfway up, you’ll notice a figure is blocking your way… It’s Beni! The chef who cooked you the Potato Mochi after every successful mission. Well, now he plans to impede your progress with a Pokemon Battle!

Battling Beni

Take on his team of four tough Pokemon so that he will allow you to proceed through the cave.

Defeat him to learn a little more about him and his history with Kamado before he heals your team and lets you leave the cave through the exit behind him.

The cave leads out to a long path leading to the Temple of Sinnoh, where you can get a really good look at the rift opening up in the sky above.

Halfway up this path, you will find Adaman and Irida waiting for you. They tell you that Kamado is preventing them from entering the temple.

Battling Kamado

Go on ahead of them to speak to Kamado, who will insist on battling with you. If you thought Beni was a difficult fight then just brace yourself for Kamado’s powerful team…

Defeat Kamado in battle and he’ll concede defeat, allowing you to progress further up the peak to the Temple of Sinnoh.

Proceed to the waypoint in the Temple of Sinnoh, where Adaman, Irida, and Kamado are waiting for you.

“Almighty Sinnoh” will speak through either Adaman or Irida depending who you chose earlier in the game, and it will challenge you to catch it, “for the fight to come.”

Kamado will give you 10 Ultra Balls and then an awesome cutscene will play out, within which either Palkia or Dialga (depending on whether you chose Adaman or Irida earlier) will step through the rift.

Catching a Legendary

The red chain will calm it and then it will enter battle with you!

If you accidentally defeat the Legendary Pokemon, it will let out a roar and everyone will flee the temple to regroup.

Here, your team will be healed and you can head back into the temple to try again.

You cannot progress the story without capturing Dialga/Palkia here. Just keep trying until you get it.

Interestingly, you will actually get exp for defeating the Legendary Pokemon. So instead of capturing it, you could defeat it a few times to farm some good exp from it for the challenges ahead.

Once you successfully capture Dialga or Palkia, the onlookers will be amazed. You’ll also notice that there are a few extra pairs of eyes in the audience now that the Professor and Akari/Rei have arrived.

But something’s not right. The rift is still open and Adaman/Irida will receive yet more psychic messages from the Legendary Pokemon you just captured.

A Second Visitor

It tells you of a final Frenzied Pokemon you must battle and asks you to fight it.

Without another Red Chain, there’s no calming the next Legendary Pokemon that steps out of the rift. The gang makes a tactical retreat to the Summit Camp to regroup and strategize.

Fortunately, Dialga/Palkia told Adaman/Iridia exactly what we need to thwart the second Legendary visitor.; The Red Chain (check), a Pokeball (check), and the “stone of creation’s beginning.”

As the group scratches their collective heads over what the final component could be, Laventon remembers something and asks to see the plates you’ve been receiving from the various Noble and Ride Pokemon.

Based on one of the riddles on the Earth Plate, Laventon suggests we need to find some ore with similar material properties to the plates.

Fortunately, we know an ore expert in the form of young Lian, who can surely help us find the “Origin Ore” we need.

The Counterpart

Getting Origin Ore

Lian will be summoned to the camp and he’ll instruct the team to head out to a place called “Primeval Grotto.”

Primeval Grotto is just a short distance southeast and you can quickly reach it via Braviary.

Head to the waypoint inside a cave, where you will find some glowing red ore in the wall.

Lian, Irida, and Adaman will join you shortly after you arrive to help gather the ore.

A Third Sister Act

Unfortunately, however, a different trio has also arrived on the scene to try and spoil our plans once again. The Miss Fortune Sisters.

Fortunately, you just have to deal with Dawn, as Irida and Adaman will deal with Coin and Clover.

PokemonLevelWeak to…Resistant to…
Rhydon61Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, Grass, IceElectric, Normal, Flying, Poison, Rock, Fire
Gengar62Ground, Ghost, Psychic, DarkNormal, Fighting, Poison, Bug, Grass, Fairy

Defeat her two-Mon team and the Miss Fortune sisters will disappear just as quickly as they arrived, leaving Lian to collect the Origin Ore. Your Pokemon will also be healed.

Lian will pass the Origin Ore to you and then the group will return to camp without you.

Stay and explore a bit if you want, or you can just fast travel to the waypoint at Summit Camp and prepare to face the Main Story’s final challenge.

Creating the Origin Ball

Speak to Laventon when you’re ready and he’ll prepare an Origin Ball, which you will later use to capture the rampaging Legendary.

Head to the Village Gate once you have the Origin Ball and Cogita will meet you there. She offers some warnings about what will happen if you fail and very little else. Nothing like a bit of pressure to up the stakes!

Back to the Temple of Sinnoh

Head through the gate and return to the Summit Camp in Coronet Highlands. You will need to walk from there, at least through the “Stone Portal” cave, but you can fly up to the cave entrance via Braviary if you want to avoid that Alpha Electivire.

On your way through the cave, Volo will bump into you again. They don’t say anything of value, but it does raise a few suspicions about Volo in general.

Continue through the cave and return to the Temple of Sinnoh. There, tell Kamado you’re ready to fight, initiating the boss fight with Palkia/Dialga.

Final Boss Fight with Palkia/Dialga

When you enter the temple, an epic cutscene will play, in which Palkia/Dialga take on their Origin Forme, a forme totally unique to Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

This boss fight is exactly the same in terms of gameplay regardless of whether you’re faced with Dialga or Palkia. It’s just like the Frenzied Noble Boss Fights you’ve done several times throughout the game; avoid their attacks while throwing balms at them.

They have two attacks they will use to hit you. One is a meteor strike attack, for which the Pokemon will cry out, and then a red radius will appear on the ground.

You will need to press to dodge roll out of the attack’s radius before the meteor can hit you, thus avoiding taking any damage.

Its other attack is a blue shockwave that repeatedly pulses out from its body. It will repeat this several times but all you need to do is dodge roll over it as it reaches you.

When Palkia/Dialga’s Frenzy Gauge reaches 50%, it will start using a third attack.

This third attack is a row of meteors that hit in quick succession, leaving a whirling pool of energy on the ground, which will hurt you if you touch them.

This move is very easy to avoid just by dodge rolling left or right, but it spans the entire diameter of the arena, essentially cutting it in half and leaving you with less room to maneuver, so you may need to consider which side of the attack you dodge to when avoiding it.

The pools will stay there until Dialga/Palkia uses the attack again.

Once you drop Dialga/Palkia’s Frenzy Gauge to 0%, a cutscene will trigger, in which you will capture it using the Origin Ball, thus adding the Pokemon to your collection but also finishing the main story. Congratulations!

Enjoy the final cutscenes and then get ready for everything the Post-game has to offer!
